Man Utd Boss Ruben Amorim States He Can't Avoid Underwhelming Performance
Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim feels the stress during the 3-1 loss at opponents
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim acknowledges he is unable to hide from his poor statistics and states it is expected that Old Trafford icons are criticizing him.
Recently, United's all-time goalscorer Wayne Rooney told his show that "the soul has disappeared" from his former team.
The Portuguese manager has achieved just eighteen wins from his forty-nine matches in control, featuring nine out of 33 in the English top flight, where he has yet to record back-to-back successive wins.
Although senior Old Trafford sources are certain that Sir Jim Ratcliffe remains backing the manager, failure to defeat recently promoted Sunderland on Saturday will spark fresh rumors about his position heading into the upcoming fortnight international break.
"It is understandable," commented the Portuguese coach, when questioned about the former striker's remarks. "One cannot run away from the results."
"Additionally you have the legacy from the previous campaign, [although] that period for me doesn't matter."
Supporter Response and Current Situation
Manchester United's followers stayed supportive of Amorim following last season's dismal showing, when they finished 15th in the league - their worst showing since the 1973-74 relegation campaign - and were beaten in the European showpiece, in the belief that the current campaign would be substantially better.
The manager assured fans the position would get better because he had additional opportunity to train with his team without the midweek distraction of continental football.
Unfortunately is not how the first six fixtures have developed as United have endured three losses so far and are currently fourteenth in the standings.
Coach's Response to Concerns
When questioned what guarantees he could provide followers that the position will change, Amorim continued: "This is not the time to speak, it is the moment to prove."
"Personally review the fixtures in the current campaign and, for me, they are completely different, but I have nothing to comment at present."
- Man Utd presently occupy 14th place in the top flight
- The manager has secured just 18 of his 49 matches in control
- The former striker recently criticized the club's present direction
- Saturday's match against Sunderland is crucial for Amorim's position
